On October 19th, 2011 The Center for Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Development (CUEED) at Rutgers Business will host the New Jersey Social Entrepreneurship Summit (NJSES) at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC.) The event is being sponsored by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and PSE&G.
“The purpose of the summit is to raise the profile of social entrepreneurship in New Jersey by bringing leaders of the social sector and entrepreneurs who address social and environmental problems in their businesses together to learn from and support one another.”
During the full day summit, conversations will be led by Social Entrepreneurs Craig Cuccia of Cafe Reconcile, Alfa Demmellash, CEO and Founder of Rising Tide Capital and Cheryl Dorsey , President of Echoing Green. Breakout sessions on social entrepreneurship and financing will help to round out the day’s events.
The New Jersey Social Innovation Institute (NJSII) will be announced during the summit. NJSII is “the first statewide effort to create new social enterprises and businesses, offers an introduction to social innovation, social entrepreneurship, and social finance within the changing social landscape of the 21st century.”
The day’s event will be covered in real time through twitter, facebook, youtube and the njses website. questions will be fielded from the followers and fans on NJSES Twitter and Facebook pages.
