challenge
gitty daneshvari is the author of the famed “school of fear” book series. since websignia designed the original website for school of fear published by our client, little brown books for young readers (hachette book group), gitty reached out to us to redesign her personal website to coincide with the release of the 3rd book in the series. the new site needed to reflect the unique style of gitty and appeal to the teen and tween audience of her books. lastly, gitty needed an easy way to update the content on her website based on her level of techspertise.
solution
websignians developed a thematic website with vertical navigation to resemble an eerie house, the mind of gitty, and her lifestyle. we removed the previous cms, drupal, and developed the website in wordpress for easier content management. we created custom gothic, hand drawn artwork and used mobile friendly programming language to animate. the user experience can be described as engaging, fun, interactive and the secret characters hidden throughout is also a part of the appeal. this new design gives gitty total freedom to update any part of her website from changing the book previews on her “library” page, her daily thoughts in the “basement” of the house, to her calendar of events when gitty has any upcoming speaking engagements around the world. there is even a section for harriet the literary bulldog, her english bulldog that interviews authors when she’s not making grumpy facial expressions. the end result is a bold and original website for a very excited client.
