Challenge
The African Film Festival, Inc. (AFF) is a non-profit arts organization headquartered in New York. Now celebrating it’s 20th anniversary, the organization began in 1990 as an ad hoc committee of African and American artists and scholars committed to using media to change the public perception of the African continent. Over the years AFF has gathered hundreds of films and managing this content with an online resource was a challenge for AFF.
Solution
After analyzing the website and it’s content, we developed a new navigation to better organize the existing content. The archived films were gathered into a database that is search-able. The next step was to implement a content management system that would allow the AFF staff to continue to manage the ongoing growth of this important archive of work. We applied the colors from the AFF logo to create a color focus for each page. The site now has an improved information flow which has created an ease of navigation and continuity just in time to kick off the new season of films being showcased at Lincoln Center and Brooklyn Academy of Muisc through may 31, 2011.
