newark alliance website redesign
by marketing team in projects/web design at 8:06 amchallenge
newark alliance was founded in 1999 by the leaders of some of new jersey’s major corporations in order to support the broader mandates of the newark community. their goal is to improve economic conditions and public education by developing partnerships with the city’s key stakeholders. the organization primarily operates behind the scenes while spurring on the newark renaissance. the real challenge was to present the organization in a way that clearly highlighted its mission and accomplishments, and at the same time didn’t overshadow the partners, who are really the main focus.
solution
we started the redesign of the newark alliance website by looking at the information architecture on the existing site. newark alliances’ story wasn’t presented in an intuitive manner that would allow for scale. some of the content was formatted in a way that didn’t allow it to be indexed by search engines. the visual redesign and realignment of the navigation to allowed us to better manage the information flow and content planning. we chose images that highlighted the ongoing redevelopment of newark as a place to live, work, and play. the end result is a site that clearly highlights the accomplishments of newark alliance in careful balance with the contribution of their partner organizations. we did all this while providing them with some “digital therapy” to help them derive the most value from their new digital presence.
